Peacefully situated holiday house in a nature reserve in the German-speaking part of Belgium
This idyllically situated holiday house is in Bütgenbach, right on the edge of the High Venn, about 100 metres from the German border. It is situated amidst the state nature reserve NATURA2000, so there is no noise, as agriculture is not permitted in the valley and there are no immediate neighbours. So you can enjoy a relaxing holiday in this comfortable holiday house, offering undisturbed privacy in natural surroundings. The municipality is part of the German-speaking area of Wallonia and those who know the area know that German is spoken here.
The stand-alone house was built in 1979 with a wood frame construction, was renovated in 2016 and is on an extensive site. It provides 80m² of living space, comprising three bedrooms, a cosy living room with an open fireplace, a dining space, a suite and TV armchairs, a separate kitchen, two bathrooms and a conservatory. The first bedroom has a double bed measuring 180 x 200cm, with bedside tables and reading lamps on either side, a dresser and a double-door wardrobe for storage space. After a day trip, you can relax in the living room in a two-seater sofa and two armchairs. In the cooler season a crackling fire in the fireplace exudes pleasant warmth. To the right of it there is a TV corner with two high-backed armchairs and a flatscreen TV including German satellite channels. The large dining table with eight upholstered chairs invites you to enjoy meals together. The kitchen enables comprehensive self-catering with a four-ring electric stove with an oven, a fridge and freezer compartment, a coffee machine, kettle, toaster and microwave. The first bathroom has a shower cubicle, a washbasin, a WC, a towel radiator and a window. The second modern bathroom has been fitted with a shower and a WC.
The garden measures 1600m² and includes a little pond, a garden shed, a grill and lounger corner. Owing to the location on a slope, the cellar can be used for parking vehicles and bicycles.
You do not need a car to get to Hohe Venn. Direct access. The RAILBIKE starting point is 300 metres away.
The RAVEL cycling and walking path runs past 200 metres away. Enjoy extensive cycle tours or walks in a breathtaking landscape. It is easy to get to Monschau (Germany) or Bütgenbach (Belgium) by bicycle. There are local cafés and restaurants 500 metres away awaiting your visit. You can do shopping about a kilometre away. Motor sports enthusiasts will enjoy the Formula 1 track at Spa/Franchorchamps about 30 minutes away. The owners offer a “taxi” service on request.
