Holiday apartment right in the historical old town of Wernigerode
Our beautiful old timber-framed house (first recorded in 1658) is on one of the architecturally most interesting streets of Wernigerode, with many beautiful and colourful timber-framed houses one next to the other. When looking along the row of houses you can feel like you have been cast back to the past. The historical timber-framed house is in a central but quiet location, next to the oldest church of Wernigerode.
Our house is within sight of the oldest church of Wernigerode. The site is close to the extensive and well-tended church site (no cemetery) if the Sankt Johanniskirche. You receive a free parking permit for your car.
The cosy holiday apartment is right on the ground floor and can accommodate a maximum of three adults. The combined living room and bedroom has tasteful and new furnishing, with a painted 18th-century cupboard as a visual highlight. The windows facing the street can be closed with shutters operated from indoors. The kitchen-diner has also been newly fitted and is fully-equipped with a gas stove, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer, and many useful accessories. The modern bathroom with a shower, WC, cupboard with a mirror and hairdryer also has a washing machine. A free cot and highchair are available on request.
Wernigerode, the “colourful town in the Harz region”, lies on the northern edge of the Harz region. It is a town with special charm, with the unique fascination and variety of magnificent timber-framed houses that vie for the attention of visitors, the oldest of which dates back to around 1400. Wernigerode has many tourist attractions. The town centre consists largely of Niedersachsen timber-framed houses. The new Gothic Wernigerode castle rises distinctively over the town and can be seen from afar. The surroundings are also very charming. The Harz narrow-gauge railway starts here, running via Schierke to the Brocken, as well as right through the Harz region to Nordhausen in Thüringen. It is barely 10 minutes from the apartment to Breite Strasse, the most architecturally interesting shopping and strolling street in Wernigerode. It is about 15 minutes to the beautiful 500-year-old town hall, the interesting market square or the peaceful forest.
