House in Peyia with Shady Balcony and Amazing Views
Located high on a hillside overlooking the sea and in the heart of a famous wine growing Cypriot village, you will experience living amongst locals in a typical village house - but also having a large, modern extension (added in 2002). Throughout the winter months Villa Iptamena is our home and therefore, far from being a featureless, impersonal rental property, it is a warm, welcoming place with many original features. + Set in beautiful gardens we have amazing views of 15+ km of coastline + In the heart of a traditional Cypriot village - our neighbours are all Cypriots + We are close to all amenities including the best sandy beach in west Cyprus (Coral Bay) + Located just 5 km from the entrance to the Akamas National Park with its 230 sq km of wild, rugged coastline, mountains, beaches + There is a private, good sized swimming pool - not overlooked + Part modern villa/part traditional village dowry house (100 years old) + The village has restaurants, tavernas, coffee shops, a bank, supermarket, bakery, chemist, medical centre, doctor and a dentist We have lived in Peyia longer than any other foreigners (50 years) and can therefore offer advice and help to make yours the perfect holiday. Our 10 page booklet will be sent to you before the start of your holiday and this is crammed with ideas and suggestions that will make this a holiday never to forget.
Our villa, architect designed to our own specification in 2001, is configured to maximise the incredible view and at the same time make the most of the cooling summer sea breezes that sweep up the hillside from the coast over the vineyards and the banana groves. In addition the villa has a very traditional Cypriot atmosphere both through its furnishings and through the fact that it is attached to an old village dowry house. This wing of the villa, with its 60 cm thick stone walls, high ceilings and exposed beams, houses the living room and the master bedroom suite . The main features of the villa are:- + A south west facing living room having air conditioning and a log burner plus 2 french windows leading on to a large covered veranda overlooking the garden and the sea beyond. Out here one can have ones mid-day and evening meals in the shade whilst enjoying the fragrant smells of stephanotis, jasmine, frangipani and datura. + The kitchen/diner also faces south west and has air conditioning plus heat exchanger for the winter. The kitchen has all necessary catering equipment and the dining area seats up to 8 people around a large oval pine table. The south east facing kitchen window looks onto a colourful flower garden and there are also 2 french windows leading on to a covered veranda overlooking the pool and the sea view beyond. It is by the pool that the sun loungers are located and here is also where we take our breakfasts whilst enjoying the early morning sunshine. + Next to the kitchen/diner is the main entrance hall with a staircase leading to two double bedrooms, each with 2 single beds. These rooms have air conditioning and french windows leading onto a large balcony. They have commanding views down to the sea and along the coast to Paphos 15km away. Next to one of these bedrooms is a bathroom with a shower over the bath, a basin and a toilet. + The other bedroom is served by its own shower room located immediately below at the foot of the stairs. This comprises a shower, a toilet and a wash basin. + On the ground floor at the back of the villa is the master bedroom suite facing east to catch the morning sun. The bedroom is air conditioned, has a queen-sized double bed and a 3 piece suite. Alongside is a dressing room with fitted wardrobe, desk, computer monitor and keyboard. This leads to the en suite bathroom with a shower over the bath, toilet and wash basin. The whole overlooks a paved courtyard bordered by a traditional village bread oven with an almond tree and a large grape vine overhead. + Facilities within the villa include broadband, wifi, TV.
The villa is surrounded by mature gardens bordering the pool on the south side. Stocked with hundreds of flowering plants and shrubs, it is a riot of colour. In addition, at the appropriate time of year guests may help themselves to to fruit from the trees - tangerines, grapefruit, lemons, pomegranates, almonds, pecan nuts, table grapes. The whole is book-ended by two large Cypress trees which frame the view to the farmland and the sea below.
In summary, our villa has masses of space both inside and out. It is therefore very suitable for extended families or couples sharing.
In addition almost every room has access onto a shady balcony and an amazing view of the sea and the coastline. It is a warm, welcoming home with an authentic Cypriot atmosphere. This augmented by the location of the villa in the heart of the village with all the village amenities close at hand and the local Cypriot people as neighbours.
This, the south west corner of Cyprus has more to offer by way of diversity and natural scenic beauty than any other part of the Republic. Paphos, the local tourist centre to the south east, has a great variety of attractions from water parks to golf courses to sea cruises to a world heritage site. In the opposite direction to the north west is the remote wilderness of the Akamas peninsular. And if this is not enough, inland the visitor can explore the hill villages, the mountains and the forests, follow one of the wine tours to mountain vineyards or marvel at the rich traditions of ancient Greek Orthodox monasteries.
