Property no. 3478341
Holiday home for max. 4 persons
Aleyrac, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, (Drome), France
Located in the heart of the Drôme Provençale, this charming holiday house offers an enchanting and relaxing break in Provence. A region with many cultural treasures and stunning natural beauty. North of Avignon, at the foothills of the famous Mont Ventoux, the Drôme Provençale is still an insider secret: a Mediterranean climate, pristine nature, cordial people, picturesque villages and lively markets. Such a diverse and extraordinary region - at any time of year.
Several of the most beautiful villages in France (known as "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France") are less than an hour's drive away, such as the enchanting Grignan, which is only 10 minutes away, or Le Poët-Laval (15 minutes). Avignon, with the famous Palais des Papes, can be reached in just over an hour. The region is also famous for various arts and crafts, especially pottery and ceramics. Several national theatre and music festivals are considered highlights in the calendar of art lovers. These include the festivals in Grignan, Avignon, Orange and Vaison-la-Romaine among others.
The Drôme Provençale and the neighbouring regions (Ardèche, Cévennes, Lubéron) are home to various beautiful natural parks that are perfect for exploring, hiking and cycling. For example, the Gorges de l'Ardèche, Mont Ventoux and the Vercors. The lavender fields, which make this region so distinctive, are also a unique feature of the landscape.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Hermitage, Gigondas and Cornas, to name just a few famous examples of wine regions in the neighbourhood, make wine lovers' hearts beat faster. There are also countless lesser-known but dynamic smaller regions with many domains to discover. In culinary terms, the Drôme Provençale is characterised by its excellent Mediterranean cuisine. The region's olives (Olives de Nyons) and black truffles are famous. It is therefore not surprising that there is a wide variety of restaurants – from cosy and traditional to some of the most highly decorated chefs in France. Almost every day there is a typical Provençal market somewhere in the area. There are also many shopping opportunities within a 10-to-20-minute drive, including organic food shops and supermarkets that are also open on Sunday mornings. In addition to hiking, many other sporting activities are possible in the surrounding area, including cycling (e.g. up Mont Ventoux, a Tour de France classic), mountain biking, golf (there are 2 courses nearby) and horse riding.
The carefully restored stone house is more than 200 years old and combines the traditional architecture of an old Provençal property with amenities such as a modern kitchen, heated private swimming pool and central heating. Your stay will be both authentic and relaxing. The house is located on a small private cul-de-sac, in the neighbourhood of two other holiday houses and surrounded by unspoilt nature, forests and truffle groves. The listed ruins of a former monastery are just a short distance away. You can go for walks or longer hikes in the immediate vicinity. The old plane tree in the garden is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Take a refreshing dip in the inviting pool and enjoy a cosy start and end to the day on the terrace. The olive tree in the garden, after which the property is named, will reinforce the wonderful impression. The house has four rooms (2 bedrooms) and can accommodate up to four people. Each room has been carefully decorated to reflect the unique charm of the region. Exposed wooden beams, the colours of Provence and hand-picked furniture create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.
