Holiday Apartment in Altenau with West-Facing Balcony and Great View

The holiday apartment is on the fifth floor in House C – west side – in the Glockenberg holiday park in Altenau / Oberharz and affords a beautiful view of mountains and forests through the big panoramic window or directly from the balcony.

The apartment of around 45m² has been fully renovated and newly furnished. The complete renewal of all components, including the bathroom, kitchen, windows, flooring and furniture ensures that this apartment is of a high standard. A modern and at the same time cosy atmosphere has been created, where you can feel at ease. These are the best conditions for an enjoyable holiday. Apart from the complete renovation of the walls and flooring, a new kitchen was installed, new furniture was provided and the technical standards were modernised. There are new synthetic windows with triple glazing and new radiators. The living room with access to the west-facing balcony provides a big flatscreen TV (digital cable TV with HD channels) with a DVD layer, Playstation 2 and a high-quality stereo system with a CD, USN media player, radio and cassette player. The living room is furnished with a leather sofa, an armchair and a wooden table, as well as a big wooden dining table with five chairs, from where you can enjoy a direct view of the evening sun and the Harz mountain forests through the big panoramic window. The master bedroom has a big double bed (160 x 200cm, two mattresses each 80 x 200cm) and is separated from the living room b a practical curtain. It also has its own wardrobe. There is another substantial cupboard in the hallway. The second bedroom has a new bunk bed (90 x 200cm), which children or adults can sleep on. The bathroom has also been fully renovated and has a towel radiator and a shower cubicle. The windows and balcony door have been renewed with new synthetic window elements and triple glazing. The high-quality new kitchen unit is accessed directly from the living room and is equipped with all the necessary appliances for an enjoyable stay.

There is a west-facing balcony with a table and chairs and a parasol. Wireless Internet access is included in the rental price (an exception in the holiday park).

The apartment is right opposite the recently built Sauna-Therme thermal baths with an outdoor pool and many sauna and wellness facilities. Hiking trails, cross-country skiing trails and downhill pistes, as well as a sledge lift are all nearby or in Torfhaus. From there you can hike along the Goethweg to the Brocken, the highest mountain in the Harz region. Alternatively you can simply take the wonderful historical Harzer Brockenbahn with its century-old steam engines. There are shops and a restaurant about 200 metres away. The town and the lake are a kilometre away. Altenau is a charming little town in the Oberharz, which has focused on tourism for a long time. People who enjoy exercise, health, fresh air and activities can find excellent options here, with the backdrop of a fabulous landscape. The hiking trails belonging to the UNESCO world-heritage “Oberharzer Wasserwirtschaft”, the world’s largest pre-industrial water harvesting system, are worth a special mention. You can walk past ponds and ditches and meet works of art created by man. This is fun, provokes thought and the trails are mostly fairly flat and therefore not difficult to negotiate. As a contrast to this, there are the national park hiking trails, which are no less charming and you can encounter pristine nature. The Goetheweg from Altenau-Torfhaus to the Brocken is one of the most well-known national park hiking trails. Whether it is hiking, paddling in the Okertal, mountain biking in the Volksbank-Arena Harz or swimming in the Oker pond, there is a lot to see and do in and around Altenau.

The local tourist tax is payable in cash on arrival – you will receive your personal spa cards when you are handed the keys.

    “Prima appartement in een groot complex bovenop de berg. Prachtig uitzicht. Het appartement was goed schoon en er lag een dikke map met alle informatie die je nodig zou kunnen hebben. Wat betreft het oventje en de elektriciteitsvoorziening daarvan mag het wel iets veiliger. De kabel hangt met kroonsteentjes en tape aan elkaar en hij past eigenlijk niet in het kastje waardoor hij naar beneden dreigt te vallen als je het deurtje open doet. Wij hebben elke keer uit voorzorg de stekker eruit getrokken na gebruik. Verder alles oké. Goede prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding.”

    “Schöne Wohnung,nur der Schrank im Schlafbereich war für uns nicht nutzbar ( Geruch)
    Aber für uns war es in der Wohnung sehr schön und wir haben uns am Abend nach unseren Ausflügen gut entspannen können.”
