Holiday apartment for max. 4 persons
Carro, Liguria, (Val di Vara), Italy
Apartment in Carro with Garden and Panoramic View
The holiday apartment for four people is in an old building in the little village of Carro, in the Val di Vara, near Cinque Terre and the Riviera di Levante. The accommodation is in the historic heart of Carro.
From one corner of the living room, steps lead to the terrace that has been integrated into the roof and offers a panoramic view of the Apuan Alps. It has garden furniture such as a table, two chairs and two armchairs, a parasol and blossoming plants. It is suitable for dining outdoors.
Bedlinen, hand towels, kitchen towels and bathrobes are provided. For stays of more than three days, cleaning can be booked on request. Owing to the entrance stairs with steps made of typical black Ligurian flint, this accommodation is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users. The owner lives on the same alley, just 20 metres from the apartment, and is therefore available to assist with any queries.
The 80m² apartment is on the second floor of a historic building with two floors, which once belonged to a branch of Nicolo Paganini’s family. The living space is on one floor. There is a living room with an armchair made by Frau, a two-seater sofa and six antique prints on the walls. From the living room, you can access the kitchen-diner with an extendable wooden table with four chairs, and antique prints in combination with modern designer lamps. Here there is also the fully-equipped kitchen unit, with a four-flame stove, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, iron and ironing board. The fridge with a freezer compartment is somewhat concealed in the corner. Tasteful tableware, glasses and cutlery are provided and are stored in a rustic, antique kitchen cupboard. From the dining room you can access the sleeping area. The first bedroom is very spacious and has a double bed measuring 160 x 200cm, with a light duvet. The special features of the rooms are the vaulted ceilings and the modest, but tasteful décor, in some cases with designer objects. A large open corner shelf provides ample space for your personal things. In front of the bedroom there is a further bedroom with two iron beds (each 80 x 200cm), and a shelf for personal items. There are also Provencal armchairs and an antique mirror. Both bedrooms have cotton curtains and new mattresses, pillows and bedlinen. The bathroom is also new and features marble tiles. It provides a shower, WC, washbasin and bidet, as well as a hairdryer.
The Paganini Festival is held every year in July and August in the historic centre of Carro. In the village you can find a grocery shop, a tourism office, a post office and a pharmacy.
The village has a bar and a pizzeria/restaurant, a romantic walk away. The restaurant is good and well-priced. Five kilometres away there are two further restaurants with typical Ligurian cuisine, made with organic products. It is about 16km to Varese Ligure, a small but very elegant town with many restaurants. In Brugnato (8km) you can find a range of excellent restaurants and bars, as well as an outlet store.
The craggy coast of Cinque Terre and the beaches at Levanto and Bonassola are within 20 minutes by car. The Val di Vara is ideal for walks or riding through the picturesque landscape. You can also explore the region by bike or motorbike. Other sports activities include rafting, canoeing and tennis. Possible trip destinations are the adventure park in Maissana and the regional park of Monte Marcello. Culture enthusiasts can wander along the art trails through the round villages and castles, or visit the museums in and around La Spezia. From 15.7.2016 6o 31.8.2016 there is a free shuttle bus organised by the Carro municipality to the sea in Deiva (two trips per day).
The apartment is in the pedestrian zone of the old town. Opposite, however, there is a small square with a public car park.
