The second largest lake in Sweden and the fifth largest in Europe, Lake Vättern is a slender body of fresh water that lies in south central Sweden. Cyclists should watch out for the popular annual recreational cycling race, the Vätternrundan, which attracts more than 20,000 participants who arrive to try their luck at completing the 300 km trip around the lake.
